Though 2024 has, thankfully, been a quieter year for wildfires in wine country, the industry is no less concerned with the effects of smoke taint and other issues. The West Coast Smoke Exposure Task Force was created to provide resources to winemakers and growers and Alisa Jacobson is the head of its research committee. She's the perfect person for it, too; as winemaker for Joel Gott Wines, she's working with growers across the West Coast and is well-suited to help communicate new ideas, answer questions and see the broader picture to help deliver better research. All this, of course, is in addition to running her own brand and serving on the Unified program committee.
